Locati is pleased to offer the Bob Goode Collection of Japanese Netsuke, which consists of nearly 100 lots of examples from the Edo period to modern examples. Highlights include examples by Sakai Masami, Clive Hallam, Issho, Toshu, Hasagawa Masayuki, Sergey Chernyavkiy, Kazuo Mizutani, and Haritsu. The first half of the auction will feature The Madge Goldman Trust Collection which includes Inuit art, American art glass, and fine prints including works by Dale Chihuly, Le Corbusier, Fernand Leger, Havery K. - Lot Description
Ten netsuke featuring dragons, comprising: a dragon in a cave signed Masatora in wood, a round dragon holding sword in wood, a dragon climbing out of a tablet in red and black lacquer, an open carved two dragon ball with a moving piece on the inside, a circular dragon, a triangular dragon in stag antler, a dragon standing in stag antler, a dragon between blossoms in soft wood and red black and gold lacquer, a circular flat dragon probably made of wood, and a dragon in the shape of a sword in antler.
Dimensions: from the lacquer piece at 38mm x 20mm, to the soft wood piece at 121mm x 24mm
Provenance: The collection of Bob Goode, Philadelphia.
Condition
The wooden dragon holding a sword has a crack, otherwise good with expected wear.
