Locati is pleased to offer the Bob Goode Collection of Japanese Netsuke, which consists of nearly 100 lots of examples from the Edo period to modern examples. Highlights include examples by Sakai Masami, Clive Hallam, Issho, Toshu, Hasagawa Masayuki, Sergey Chernyavkiy, Kazuo Mizutani, and Haritsu. The first half of the auction will feature The Madge Goldman Trust Collection which includes Inuit art, American art glass, and fine prints including works by Dale Chihuly, Le Corbusier, Fernand Leger, Havery K. - Lot Description
A group of nine netsuke from folk tales, comprising: the badger that turns himself into a tea kettle in wood, a dancing shojo with a sake cup on his head signed Shuzan, a shoki catching an oni in wood, a hanasake jiji in lacquer or plastic, two heros killing a nue in wood, a badger dressed as a priest in pottery, and two statues in porcelain the old couple jo and uba.
Dimensions: from the hanasake at 39mm x 32mm to the shoki at 58mm x 48mm
Provenance: The collection of Bob Goode, Philadelphia.
Condition
Overall good condition, minor surface wear.
