- Lot Description
An English Mahogany Crossbanded Oak Tall Case Clock, 19th Century
The white-painted arched dial having Roman numerals, with a subsidiary seconds dial and hand-painted birds to the center, the lunette with a painted fox hunting scene, the three train weight driven movement striking on two gongs.
Dimensions: Height 91 3/4in; width 21in; depth 9 1/2in.
Provenance: From a Staten Island, New York Collection.
Condition
The case with restoration, repairs and reconfigurations. The dial is together with the case by association. There is rebuilding to upper section of the backboards behind the hood. The cheeks of the clock have been cut down and reconfigured to house the clock's current movement. Scattered small screw and nail holes to the sides of the case. The entire clock as it is displays well and would not be aware of any reconfiguring unless the hood is removed and inspected. The case with key. We cannot guarantee the completeness and functionality of the clock's movement.
