- Lot Description
A hand hammered gilt copper vessel with applied silver elements, marked as pictured. Together with two 20th century enameled copper plates.
From Wikipedia: Steakley has a BA from Bowling Green State University[4] and studied jewelry design and silversmithing at Indiana University,[1] where he received a master of fine arts degree.[2] In 1974, he traveled to Denmark to learn holloware techniques. His work is featured in the Smithsonian American Art Museum collection.[1] In 1979, he wrote Holloware Techniques, a book published by Watson-Guptill Publications.[5] He was the president of the Society of North American Goldsmiths [Wikidata], from 1989 to 1991.
Dimensions: 8" in diameter and 6 1/2" tall. The plates are 7" and 8 1/2" in diameter.
Provenance: Property from a Bucks County, Pennsylvania Collection.
Condition
The vessel has several dents, the larger plate has an area of enamel loss at the edge.
