- Lot Description
An Imposing American Empire Inlaid Mahogany Sideboard, Second Quarter 19th Century. Possibly for commercial use. The rectangular top with brass gallery above three outset drawers over four cupboard doors divided by acanthus carved supports, enclosing an open interior fitted with shelves, raised on substantial hairy paw feet, fitted with serving slide to the left side.
Dimensions: Height of sideboard 47 1/2in; width 75 1/4in; depth 24 1/4in; height overall 51 1/2in.
Condition
Structurally sound. The brass gallery is likely a later 19th / early 20th century addition, tall he posts cover up another set of center drilled holes to the top board. The brass is heavily toned. The top board of the case with several age cracks and shrinkage throughout. The right cupboard door with warping. Scattered small losses to string inlay and veneer overall
