- Lot Description
Fourteen corkscrews with bone or horn handles, early19th to 20th century, comprising: three with bell form brass frames including a c. 1802 half bottle Thomason corkscrew with plaque depicting a lion and unicorn, a two-column frame example "L'Excelsior", eight puller examples one by H. Hughs and Son, London, and two direct pull examples with brushes.
Dimensions: Ranging from 2 1/2" to 6" in length
Provenance: From the Collection of Donald Morway
Condition
One of the brass examples has a broken worm and is missing a plaque, one puller is missing end caps, otherwise good with minor expected wear, minor losses and oxidation to the metal.
