probably 11th-12th century, Khmer, Angkor period, sandstone, features include Khmer style wide nose, full lips, incised almond eyes with articulated pupil, traditional tiara/crown around front of head, and top-knot, fitted onto a modern wooden base.9.5 in.A similar to Khmer head sold at Christie's, New York, March 20, 2009, Sale 2271, Lot 1426.Purchased by owner in Bangkok in the mid-1960sGood condition with some loss to the left side of the tiara; some minor wear and loss to top of top knot.
