18th-19th century, Nepal, inscribed on the left side of the sculpture in sanskrit or Newari, copper alloy and brass with gilding and inlaid beveled jewels of turquoise and rubies, seated inlalitasana on top of a beaded lotus throne with six arms holding implements that include the kalasha and pustaka, seated high on a lion throne that is raised on decorative feet. 10 in.Given to Stewart Edwards by the Royal family of Nepal for his service and friendship in the late 1950s
Condition
Good condition with loss of some of the inset jewels; some rubbing and wear to the gilding that is appropriate for age; small amounts of red pigment remain on the headdress.
