North India, Kashmir, 19th century, ink, colors and gilding on paper, oblong octavo, (4.5 x 7.5 in.), paper boards with maroon silk, (23) narrative drawings under opaque tissue overlays are interspersed among leaves of nagari text.4.5 x 7.5 in.Given to Stewart Edwards by the Royal family of Nepal for his service and friendship in the late 1950s.Spine broken vertically down the middle; covers and one illustration disbound; text with scattered light soiling; silk on boards heavily worn and fractured; colors remain vibrant throughout text.
