watercolor on velvet depicting bowl of fruit to include grapes and pineapple with foliage, presented under the original _glomis_ glass reading "By Jerusha Holmes 1821." and housed in a gilt wood frame. Granddaughter of Job Holmes (Plymouth, MA 1728-1800), a Mayflower descendent, Jerusha Rawson Holmes was born January 22, 1804 in Oxford County, Maine, to James Holmes (1759-1827) of Plymouth County, MA and Jerusha Rawson (1769-1848) of Worcester County, MA. Both Job's and James' births are listed inMayflower Births and Deaths, Vol.II and their military service in theMassachusetts Soldiers and Sailors in the Revolutionary War. A photo of a 19th century family record sampler accompanies the theorem.SS 17.5 x 19.5 in.: DOA 19.25 x 21.25 in.Age discoloration; bottom stitched to board; areas of soiling; very minor surface loss to small areas visible when held to light out of frame.
