About Artwork: My artistic journey blends digital and analog techniques, driven by a passion for storytelling through collage. My process combines meticulous digital composition with traditional craftsmanship, layering vintage botanical imagery and classical illustrations before hand-cutting and reassembling them onto custom-built panels. This tactile stage is enhanced with resin, adding depth and luminosity that reflect the natural world. A defining element of this piece is the obscured eyes of the central figure, symbolizing a shift from physical appearance to spiritual essence, much like the butterflies representing transformation. Through this work, I explore themes of interconnectedness and the balance between inner and outer beauty, using vibrant imagery to celebrate humanity's connection to nature. It is an honor to contribute this piece to the Laguna Museum's California Cool Auction, continuing my mission to craft art that evokes wonder, reflection, and emotional resonance.
About Artist: Krovblit blends traditional and modern techniques in his work, using a digital-analog process that begins with conceptualizing ideas in Photoshop. These concepts form the blueprints for scalable, hand-cut collages, with layers printed, cut, and reassembled on custom-built birch panels, finished with resin. His art often incorporates unconventional materials and methods, allowing him to explore new ideas and push the boundaries of collage. A former award-winning commercial photographer, Krovblit transitioned to being a visual artist, driven by his passion for art and surfing. He reimagines vintage images and genres, seeking to tell new stories through repurposed visual history. His collages reflect his surroundings, drawing heavily on pop culture, particularly the surreal works of Salvador Dali, which first inspired his interest in photography.
