Study head (portrait of Maisonneuve). Engraving and etching. Schäffer, Eugen Eduard (1802 - Frankfurt am Main - 1871) Sheet 16 of the portfolio "Radirungen Frankfurter Künstler", around 1860. - The draftsman and graphic artist Schäffer was a pupil of P. Cornelius, who became aware of Schäffer's abilities as a graphic artist in particular. The unfinished engraving was created during Schäffer's time as a student of Cornelius. Worked in front of the model, the sheet testifies to Schäffer's quality as a painter's eraser. - . Image: 0 7.7 x 7.5 cm. Paper: 35.5 x 28 cm. I found a copy of this print that sold recently at a German auction for over $2K
