ca1890; (h. 4.5") (o.l. 34"); A fine Moses Babcock under hammer percussion gun cane curio made entirely of metal. The L-shaped handle measures 4 1/2” long with a silver end-cap that measures 1 1/2” across along with some remnants of old paint remaining on the handle. It has an under hammer bar that is engraved “M. Babcock, Charlestown, Mass.”. The gun operated by having the hammer strike a nipple with a percussion cap igniting a charge that in turn drove a muzzle-loaded ball. A small sight at the barrel end assisted in aiming. The overall length is 34” and the general condition is very good with working mechanics
