Selection of fine canes
Kimball Sterling kimballsterling@earthlink.net-Ca. 1880 -Fashioned of a beautifully grown stepped malacca of an attractive natural golden tint and fitted with a brass ferrule. -The straight and integral shaved root bulb handle breaks in two parts through a concealed and precise twist-lock device to release a longer, 11” tall and tapering triangular dagger blade with a plain and narrow back and two wider faces that meets an a edge. Distinguished by a superb geometry, the longer front part of the smooth polished blade is partly hollowed on both upper parts and has a back edge that curves upward to end above the spine. While the hollowing reduces the blade’s weight and increases its stiffness, the trailing point tip concentrates force on the cutting edge and optimizes it for slashing. -This elegant fashion accessory turns in an instant to weapon. It is not just a myth but also one of the more persuasive arguments to have at hand when a dispute occurs. Everyone loves this contrast! -The passage of time endowed this cane with the indefinable and cherished personality of great collectables. While, the twist-lock device is still perfectly geared, works smoothly and with a hardly perceptible breaking line, the surface of the cane boasts a lovely texture and an alluring glimmer. -H. 5 ¼” x 1”, O.L. 35 ¼” -$800-$1,000
