ca1890; cartridge - .56 caliber; (o.l. 34"); A very nice, and untouched, Day's patent concealable under hammer percussion gun cane circa 1830 often associated with poachers during the 19th century. The overall length is 34" with a sighted 28" round .56 caliber Birmingham proof marked smoothbore barrel has smooth steel-gray surfaces with 25% mottled blued/blackened surfaces and some light scattered patches of discoloration/pitting with a fine bore. The shaft/barrel is marked on the topside of the frame with "Day's Patent" and "JR"; The rounded integral frame with smooth, matching, steel-gray surfaces and its original lock components: pop-out trigger and semi-flush fitting hammer with a button-type spur. Retains its original nipple and a strong mainspring with original components. Plain hardwood (boxwood) grips with a rounded profile and 75% finish and a carved “D” on its heel with eyelet holes in handle. In overall very good untouched condition with fine edges and smooth rich-toned surfaces
