Late 19th Century- A prime example of an automaton with original finish, two color glass eyes, when the button on the throat is pressed the ears move in opposite directions and the mouth opens to show a painted red tongue, a very unusual aspect of this donkey is that is has a carved wooden bridle, in fine working condition, signed sterling collar with makers marks, horn and ebony shaft with silver spacers and a 2 1/2" horn ferrule.
