ROSE LEE A framed ink on paper comic strip titled "Striking" and signed twice by Will B. Johnstone, published in the New York World-Telegram in response to the news item stated at the top of the strip: "Two women strike breakers stripped of their dresses and underwear by strike sympathizers." Johnstone has additionally signed and inscribed in the last cell "To Gypsy Rose Lee for bigger & better strikes of the sort. Best wishes Will B. Johnstone." Johnstone was a cartoonist who also wrote for the Marx Brothers' Broadway shows and films.
