A Rick Griffin artwork commemorating the passing of Quicksilver Messenger Service guitarist John Cipollina, who died in 1989. Griffin was a friend of the band and produced the cover art for its first album in 1968. The artwork is airbrush stencil on board with an image of Cipollina playing the guitar, blue flames, and an image of a steer skull. Accompanied by two Griffin paintings of steer skulls inspired by his trips to desert areas of the Southwest. The first is an airbrush on cardboard image of a skull on a terracotta background. The second is an airbrush on cardboard mirror image of a skull motif with Griffin's Hopi inspired mask that is a frequent motif in his work against a black background.
