- Lot Description
A pair of Rick Griffin preliminary sketches for a Grateful Dead 20th Anniversary flyer that was handed out at the Greek Theatre at the University of California during the group's June 16, 1985, concert. The first sketch is graphite and color pencil on tracing paper with "Grateful Dead" lettered across the bottom of the drawing. The second is color pencil on tracing paper with the same central image of a Revolutionary War minuteman figure holding a guitar, but this drawing has an additional image of a woman at left. The first drawing more similarly matches the final artwork.
