The second guitar replicates Lennon’s replacement guitar for his stolen J-160. In 1967, Lennon commissioned design collective “The Fool” to create a psychedelic paint finish on that guitar. The design is undulating waves of blue and orange. A label affixed to the interior reads “Style John Lennon/ Number 90738019/ Limited Edition/ 9 of 47 for 1998/ Magical Tour.” The pickup on Lennon’s guitar was moved to the back of the sound hole and two tuner parts were lost, which is replicated here.
The third guitar replicates Lennon’s final version of his J-160 after it was stripped of the psychedelic finish and was subsequently drawn on by Lennon with caricatures of himself and wife Yoko Ono. The pickup on the guitar was returned to its original position. A label affixed to the interior reads “Style John Lennon/ Number 90738016/ Limited Edition/ 9 of 47 for 1998/ Bed In.”
These special edition guitars were produced at Gibson’s Bozeman, Montana plant under the direction of luthier Ren Ferguson. Each guitar is accompanied by a black hardshell case.
Each 42 by 16 inches
