A brown wig custom made for James Stewart for How the West was Won (MGM, 1962). The wig is made of human hair and hand tied one strand of hair at a time to a lace mesh with silk bands in the interior to give the appearance of a scalp. Studio wigs at the time were custom made and fitted to measure by the star's head and hairline. An MGM label reads "1268" with a corresponding MGM wig stock record card that reads "Stock No. 1268 James Stewart Med. brown-1850 Prod. #1776." Sydney Guilaroff was the hair stylist on this film. The card also notes that the wig was checked out in 1964 for production number 2637 for Stanley Adams and in 1969 for production number 2001. The wig was acquired from MGM upon the closure of its hair and wig department. Accompanied by a copy of the film.
