- Lot Description
A James Dean, and others, inscribed copy of East of Eden by John Steinbeck (New York: Viking Press, 1952). The book belonged to Irva Mae Ross, script supervisor for the film adaptation of the book East of Eden (Warner Bros., 1955). Ross asked cast and crew to sign the book at the end of filming. Inscribed on the endpaper by Dean, “Irva, with love and appreciation James Dean ‘Cal.’ “ Additionally signed and inscribed by other actors and crew members including Julie Harris, Burl Ives, Raymond Massey, Jo Van Fleet, Dick Davalos , Albert Dekker, Elia Kazan (signed with his initials “E.K.”), Guy Thomajan, and Leonard Rosenman, among others. Accompanied by a copy of the cast and crew list and credit list for the film.
