Erard / 13 & 21, Rue du Mail, / Paris'', further stamped ''9473'', the case marquetry-inlaid with flower-filled urns, floral swags, a musical trophy and strapwork entwined with foliage, the exterior of lid marquetry and parquetry-inlaid with a lattice pattern within a border of rosettes and foliage and centered by a foliate cartouche enclosing a musical trophy, the interior of lid inlaid with a cube pattern, 39.25'' H x 60.25'' W x 87.75'' D, est: $10,000/15,000 Provenance: Private Collection, Pasadena, CA, by descent on the family
Overall good condition. General scratches and marks, and areas of lifting and shrinkage cracks to veneer commensurate with age and use. Sun fading to veneer. Scattered losses to veneer. Scattered repairs to veneer. The key slip, key blocks and lyre with larger losses to veneer, the largest loss 1.75'' x .875''. Repaired breaks to each end of music shelf with visible glue residue and added reinforcements to back, and corresponding losses and visible cracks to timber. Two cracks to soundboard. Two keys stick. A chip to one key.
