Likely late 19th/early 20th century, with deficient standard mark, spurious date mark and rubbed maker's mark ''BA''?, surmounted by a domed finial, the stepped domed octagonal hinged lid issuing an acanthus leaf-topped scrolled handle connecting to the bulbous chased and repousse-decorated body at its midpoint, the body with a gilt-washed interior and decorated to the exterior with an incised portrait of Henry VIII and inscribed ''Henrious / VIII, Rex'', flanked by a coat of arms and a crowned heraldic emblem and further inscribed ''1513'' and ''Civitas Torna Censis'', raised on a waisted socle supported overall on a stepped domed foot, 6'' H x 3.75'' W x 2.875'' D, 6.77 oz troy approximately, est: $500/800 Provenance: Estate, Costa Mesa, CA
Overall good condition, with general marks, scratches, rubbed wear and tarnishing commensurate with age. Scattered spots of minor bending to edges of lid and foot; foot with an approximately 1.75''-long section of edge pushed up. Tankard does not stand flush on a flat surface. Engraved, as stated.
