Third quarter 19th century, each with an eared black onyx top over an ebonized and gilt bronze-molded scrolling foliate frieze supported on Bacchic demi-figures, the hinged locking door enclosing two adjustable wood shelves and decorated to the exterior with five gilt bronze-molded reserves each enclosing various applied hardstones in fruit, floral and bird motifs, raised overall on a conforming outset base, 2 pieces, each: 49'' H x 40.375'' W x 19.75'' D, est: $10,000/15,000 Provenance: Private Collection, Laguna Beach, CA
Condition
Overall good condition, with general scratches, marks, nicks, scuffs, separation at joints and darkening to bronze commensurate with age. Scattered shrinkage cracks; the longest running the length of each door. Lacking key; one with lock removed. Lifting and scattered losses to inlaid brass banding and hardstone. Breaks and repairs to onyx tops.
