Circa 1860s, finely woven of cream, brown, indigo blue and cochineal-dyed red wool, of banded design with floating bars to the central and outer bands, 4'8.5'' H x 6'0'' W, est: $10,000/15,000 Note: Dye-testing analysis by Dr. David Wenger of Jefferson Medical college, Philadelphia, PA confirms that sample red fibers from the central and two outer sections of red were cochineal dyed. Please reference accompanying letter and graphs from Dr. Wenger. Provenance: Private Collection, El Paso, Texas
Overall good condition, with general wear throughout commensurate with age. Wear, losses and breaks to selvedge edges, with scattered pulled warps along edges. Approximately 10 small holes to field, the largest 1'' x 2'' to center and 3.5'' x 1'' to center edge.
