Third quarter 19th century, maker's mark to focuser tube ''Supplied by / Broadhurst Clarkson & Co. / 63 Farringdon Rd. / London, E.C.'', polished brass and wood, a refractory telescope, adjustable with a 3.5'' diameter lens, eyepiece marked ''Orthoskop Okular f-12.5 mm'', together with five additional lenses in a fitted box, with scope level: 75'' H x 61.5'' W x 24'' D, est: $2000/3000 Provenance: Through descent to the current owner, Private Collection, Agoura Hills, CA
Condition
Overall good condition, with general wear, scratches, shrinkage cracks to timber and nicks to legs commensurate with age; structurally sound. X-axis adjustment crank would benefit from tightening; lacking handle. Lens and eyepieces dirty but in overall good condition.
