Mathematics. - Rare, No copy in international trade traceable for us. Antonio Maria Lorgna (1735-1796) was an 18th century Italian mathematician. After 1763, he became professor of mathematics (and captain of pioneers) at the Castelvecchio military academy for engineers in Verona. He was known for his mathematical skills (Boscovich considered him the best Italian mathematician after Lagrange). He published over 70 papers. He was friends with important Italian scientists and discussed scientific questions with them, which led to the foundation of the Italian National Academy of Sciences in 1782. Ruggero Boscovich, Gianfrancesco Malfatti, Lazzaro Spallanzani and Carlo Barletti (1735-1800), who were friends of Lorgna, were also involved.
