Signed "William H. Clarke / 97" lower right. Artist's stamp and certificate of authenticity (with title "Tall Grass") verso. Matted and housed in an old gold-painted frame. Circa 1997. 17 1/4" x 21" sight, 28 3/4" x 32 1/2" OA.

Catalogue Note: William H. Clarke (20th century) lives and works in Blackstone, Virginia where he continues to create memory paintings of his childhood growing up in a rural Southside African-American community. His work was featured in the Corcoran Gallery's exhibit "Common Ground" and he is represented in numerous collections.
Painting in excellent condition, now slipped out of place behind matte. Frame with minor wear. Not examined out of frame.
