ROUND HILL POTTERY, WINCHESTER, SHENANDOAH VALLEY
OF VIRGINIA EARTHENWARE / REDWARE VASE, copper-, manganese-, and lead-glazed, baluster form with medium collar and pronounced foot, stamped "WINCHESTER / POTTERIES / VA" within an apple-form outline under base. Together with a single-glazed earthenware one-gallon crock stamped "SOLOMON BELL". Two pieces total. The Round Hill Pottery (active 1927-1933), Winchester, VA. Circa 1930-1933. 9 7/8" H, 4 5/8" D rim, and 8" H, 7 3/4" D rim.

Catalogue Note: The Round Hill Pottery represents the culmination of more than 100 years of commercial pottery production in the Shenandoah Valley. Long-time Strasburg potter Theodore "Thedy" Fleet was one of the primary artisans working for the firm which produced greater quantities of artistic wares than the traditional utilitarian forms associated with previous generations of Shenandoah Valley potters.
Condition
Vase with a light short hairline off rim and a medial 3/4" D chip to one side. Crock with a rim chip and moderate wear.
