PUTMAN VALLEY, NEW YORK FOLK ART APPLIQUE SUMMER SPREAD, thirty 12 1/2" SQ blocks with various shades of red sashing, each square with floral, geometrical, or figural subjects in various colored prints and solids, most ink signed and several dated, patterns include floral wreaths, urns of flowers, moon and stars, bird, oak tree with acorns in a trapunto technique, white backing with hanging sleeve. Several last names include Armstrong, Buckler, Cole, Crawford, Hunt, Horton, Forman, Knopp, Konafef?, and Ronker, signed dates include October 5, 1852; October 9th, 1852, and 1854; one name with Putman Valley; and another with a remembrance verse. Circa 1852. 68" x 84".
