JAPANESE PORCELAIN KUTANI TEA AND DINNER SET, LOT OF 57, including two large bowls, ten teabowls in two sizes, 12 plates in two sizes, and nine saucers or sauce dishes in two sizes; all finely-painted in Famille Rose palette with flowering peony, blossoming tree-roses and other flowers symbolic of spring. All signed in Japanese Dai Nippon, Imura Zo. Late Meiji, Circa 1910-1923. The largest bowls 3 1/4" H, 7 5/8" D, the largest plates 7 1/4" D.
Provenance: From a Rockbridge Co., VA private collection.
(UPDATED 4/21/15) Most in excellent undamaged condition; one plate broken and repaired using kinkatsuri technique of using gold within repair seams; one teabowl with sizeable loss to rim, one with minor chip under rim, one with hairline from rim; one saucer with two moderate chips to rim and associated hairlines.
