GEORGIA PIEDMONT TURNED AND PAINTED LADDER-BACK SIDE CHAIR, oak/hickory, a fine example, featuring unusual, highly developed, phallus-form finials, double ogee "cupid's bow" shaped four-slat back, bold ring-turned posts and front legs, original straw-stuffed woven-splint seat, and double box stretcher. Early worn green-painted surface. Probably Walton Co., GA. Second half 19th century. 36 7/8" HOA, 13 3/8" x 16 5/8" seat.

Very good condition overall with wear and losses to seat. Expected areas of wear to painted surface.
