FINE REGENCY MAHOGANY FOUR-PEDESTAL BANQUET TABLE, each with finely grained and bookmatched one-board reeded-edge top, fitted as a tilt-top for storage, above a baluster-form standard, all raised on a tripodal base with reeded downswept legs ending in cast brass paw-form feet fitted with rollers. Pine and mahogany secondary woods. Each retains original iron support strap to underside of standard. Old antique dealer's label underside of support block on one example for "Killingworth / Locust Valley / Long Island", dated 1936. Old surface with warm color. Circa 1810-1820. 134" L, 28" H, 54" W.
Provenance: Descended in the Ewald family of New York City and Charlottesville, VA.
(UPDATED 6/15/15) Excellent condition overall with minor loss of color to top and minor expected usage wear. Modern additional batten added to underside of top on one example.
