AMERICAN, PROBABLY BALTIMORE OR PHILADELPHIA, FEDERAL INLAID MAHOGANY SIDEBOARD, the case with serpentine front flanked by curved cabinet ends, single center drawer, raised on four square-tapered legs. Pine and poplar secondary woods. The whole featuring line inlay with astragal cut corners, banded cuffs, and birch-inlaid center panel to drawer. Old estate surface with warm color. Circa 1790-1810. 38 1/2" H, 71 1/2" W.
Provenance: From an Augusta Co., VA estate collection.
Very good overall condition with minor wear, cracks, and small losses to inlay and veneers. Top with possible old repair to back edge. Brasses possibly replaced.
(UPDATED 6/16/15) Proper right rear leg with repair to break, other rear leg facing is original, but rest of leg is replaced.
