1835 LOVINA ESTEP, SHENANDOAH CO., SHENANDOAH
VALLEY OF VIRGINIA FRAKTUR BIRTH AND BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATE, watercolor and ink on paper, central reserve inscribed "Lovina Estep was born on the 8th day of August, in the year of our Lord 1835", surmounted with two tilted hearts and flanked by blue-leaf vines, all within a decorative frame-like border. Archival mounting in a period painted frame. Reserve. Attributed to the Shenandoah County Vine and Heart artist. Circa 1835. 8 3/4" x 7 7/8" sheet.

Catalogue Note: Lovina Estep (1835-1921) was the daughter of Reuben and Julia Ann Estep of Forestville in Shenandoah Co. The birth record in the Deyerle collection was executed for Mary Knupp of Mt. Clifton which is located four miles north of the Estep family home place in Forestville.
