- Lot Description
A VERY FINE AND IMPRESSIVE BORNEO, SEA DAYAK, LANGGAI TINGGANG SWORD, 19TH CENTURY. The hilt with exceptional traditionally carved antler pommel depicting a finely sculpted standing humanoid figure (spirit) in an elaborate costume incorporating tufts of colored animal hair. The handle with finely woven twisted wire grip between two polished conforming metal bands at top and bottom and the riccasso with decorated brass collar in which is set a large sweeping single edged curved blade with wide flat spine and ornate krowit near base of cutting edge. The blade incised and pierced on upper edge with undulating wave pattern and the cutting edge original and undisturbed retaining its original sharpened finish. Overall in a very fine state of original preservation. Overall length 34 inches (86.5 cm).
