Measurements framed: ~28†x 47.5†Christ of Saint John of the Cross is an original hand-signed oil on canvas: a breathtaking painting In the manner of/In style of Salvador Dali. It is a classic rendition of Dali’s distinctive, imaginative, and innovative style which stands him in the forefront of surrealistic modern artistry. Christ of Saint John of the Cross is a pre-1975 painting and is singularly noteworthy because after 1975 Dali was known to have signed his name to many blank canvases, pieces of cardstock and paper on which dealers and resellers among others added images. Among the most versatile and prolific artists of the 20th century, Dali brought his artistic exploration of subconscious imagery and unique style to life in his works. His most influential contribution to Surrealism was a surrealistic technique he developed in the 1930’s. A technique he described as a “spontaneous method of irrational knowledge, based on the critical-interpretive association of the phenomena of delirium.†Christ of Saint John of the Cross exemplifies Dali’s portray als of surrealistic simplicity. It is a rare, very collectible and sought-after piece of fine art.
