Michael Flohr "Royal Street" Limited Edition Embellished Giclee Framed 85/195. The painting is 36.5 in. x 48 in. Framed the painting is 47 in. x 55 in. Artist Michael Flohr paints his magic once again capturing a glimpse of a rainy evening on the streets of New Orleans French Quarter. New Orleans is often referred to as “the birthplace of jazz and the cradle of modern musicâ€. So fitting that Flohr takes the viewer to “Royal Street” where he creates a nondescript space and time where color seems to manifest into music and imagery churns emotion. As dusk falls, the fantastical purple haze of the setting sun illuminates the moist sky in shades of lavender and blue - painted only as Michael Flohr can to capture an aura of mystery and intrigue. Rich in contrast, color sedates yet entices the viewer. Masterfully placed warm and cool hues diverge just as the warm and cool air merges in the night sky bursting the clouds into rain. At the center, a lone bike rider braves the slippery Cobblestone Streets. Soothing shades of orange, red and yellow reverberate like an alto sax playing in the distance creating a sense of quietude and purpose for those still left on the deserted street. Flohr painterly captures the peaceful din of the street. The rain falls against the pavement like twinkling piano keys and the wispy snare drum cadence of footsteps coalesce as the figures head to their quiet destinations.
