BURNABY, Fred (1842-1885). On Horseback Through Asia Minor. London: Sampson, Low, Marston, Searle and Rivington, 1877. 2 volumes, 8vo. Half-title, photograph portrait mounted frontispiece in volume I, tipped-in letter signed by Burnaby. (Tears, creasing and chipping to a couple folding maps, hinge starting.) Publisher's green pictorial and gilt-stamped cloth, edges uncut (spine ends chipping with associated losses, lower joint on volume II splitting, rubbed). FIRST EDITION SIGNED BY BURNABY. -- STAUNTON, George (1781-1859). An Historical Account of the Embassy to the Emperor of China...Including the Manners and Customs of the Inhabitants &c. London: John Stockdale, 1797. 8vo. Numerous engraved plates and maps. (Spotting and offsetting, scant soiling to text leaves, with some affecting text.) Contemporary half calf, marbled boards, gilt-stamped spine (boards and spine worn, corners bumped). FIRST EDITION. -- WHITE, John R. (1879-1961). Bullets and Bolos. Fifteen Years in the Philippine Islands. New York and London: The Century Co., 1928. 8vo. Numerous plates. (Minor offsetting.) Publisher's orange cloth boards, lettered in blue (lacks dust jacket, even fading to spine, rubbed). FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY WHITE for Horace Albright (1890-1987), an American conservationist, former Director of the National Park Service and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
