Fourteen Geoffrey Beene Embroidery Samples and Unfinished Garments, 1970-89s
Fourteen embroidery samples, some of which are on pattern pieces that are unfinished parts of a garment.
The first and second images are of a richly embroidered and unfinished vest in a floral pattern with irridescent sequins. The best measurement, pinned closed is approximately 17" across the front. No label. Attributed to Geoffrey Beene
The third image is of two black velvet pieces with embroidered flowers of large shaped white plastic pieces, some of which are layered with black velvet.
The fourth images is of a black velvet unfinished sleeve embroidered with metallic reflectic triangles. There are two sleeves, but only one pictured. While most items are without labels or markings, these sleeves have a label that states 'J.B. Made in France'.
The fifth image is a black crepe embroidered with a sun and sunrays images of red/orange crepe at the center and rays of gold coil.
The sixth image is of a cloud scene in blue and clear/iridescent sequins with the cloud edges raised by an underlayer of thick thread embroider.
The seventh image is a black sheer crepe with gold and black thread embroidery embellished with thread knots and small beads.
The eigth image is of a paisley pattern in red chinelle thread with glass beads and large faceted jewels.
The ninth image is black satin with black cord and faceted jewels.
The tenth image has a fabric swatch pinned to it with the sequin embroidery designed to match and includes visible trace lines.
The eleventh image is blue and gold sequins with pink and gold glass beads.
The twelvth is two tones of thick yellow thread with gold and wood beads.
The thirteenth image is of black velvet embroidered with thick black cord and braid.
