Half-title, engraved title, engraved frontispiece, 38 engraved plates, EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED by the addition of 12 engraved portraits on india paper mounted interleaved throughout (see below). (Some occasional browning or offsetting, a few plates trimmed close to imprint.) Later green polished calf, spine gilt, tan morocco lettering-pieces gilt, the rest gilt STAMP SIGNED BY ZAEHNSDORF (spine sunned, slight wear to extremities and joints); original front wrappers to parts 5, 8, and 12 and 2pp. of the "Dombey Advertiser" from part 8, May 1847 bound in. FIRST EDITION BOUND FROM ORIGINAL PARTS, with 6-line errata. Smith I:8 (with all errors except those on pp.70, 324, 426, 431, and 494, not always present); Yale/Gimbel A103.
