Collection of Ten Vintage Hats, Museum Deaccession, 1940s-50s

Sold to benefit the Art Acquisition Fund at the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfield.

This lot includes ten assorted hats.

THE FIRST
Black straw cone shaped hat with black net swirled on top and long black net drape.

Condition

Condition:THE FIRSTThe overall condition is good with some small holes in the back net drape. THE SECONDThe overall condition is poor with a large hole in the center back brim and worn fold on the left side brim. There is also some light soiling at center front inner band. THE THIRDThe overall condition is good though the velvet ribbon has stiffened and the back braid is bent under the brim. THE FOURTHThe overall condition is poor with the plastic headband broken in half. THE FIFTHThe overall condition is good with soiling overall from wear. THE SIXTHThe overall condition is good though the feathers on the bird detail is starting to detach. THE SEVENTHThe overall condition is good though there seems to be a missing element on the front brim along with some light soiling on the band. THE EIGHTHThe overall condition is very good with no visible issues. THE NINTHThe overall condition is good with the feather broken and missing some barbs. The net also has some holes and detached from the front and minor soiling on the band. THE TENTHThe overall condition is good though the ribbon trim has faded severely and there is some light soiling on the band. Everything is sold 'As Is'. The stated overall condition of the lot is based on the assumption that the wear is consistent with age and use. All other condition issues are stated above.
