[BRONZES]Bogu tulu kaozheng (Research on Illustrated Record of Ancient Bronzes). 1569.
20 volumes, 234 x 151 mm. 30 juan containing the jiaoban edition printed by Zheng Pu in the bingshen year of the Ming wanli period corresponding to 1596, with illustrations and text. Double leaves, with old restorations in paper sewn together by silk threads. Together in 2 folios of slate gray silk, each containing 10 volumes. Provenance: Qian Chenqun (1686-1774), sealed with commentary and titles. Sheng Xuanhuai (1844-1916), sealed with titles, C.T. Loo (1880-1957) (envelope), Cheng Bofen (1911-1988), sealed with postscript and titles.
AN EXTREMELY RARE AND FINE edition. As infrequently as the Song dynasty Xuanhe bogu tu is seen, this jiaokan edition is perhaps even rarer. Indeed, the collator, Zheng Pu of Suizhou, was not entirely known when the imperial bibliography of the Tianlu Linlang library was published, and thus the work was misdated. Similarly, previous collector Qian Chenqun, a Hanlin scholar and near contemporary of such imperial bibliographies, believed this to be a Yuan dynasty work, as stated in his postscript for the present lot.
