(AUTOGRAPHS). BERLIN, IRVING
Typed Letter Signed "Irving" on Irving Berlin letterhead. May 13th, 1960. To Maggie (Mrs. Herbert Bayard Swope, Jr.), thanking her for her gift of flowers on his birthday.
4to, framed with the cover of sheet music for his composition, "Now It Can Be Told".

The Swopes gave lavish parties at their Long Island homes. They partly inspired Scott Fitzgerald as models for the parties in GATSBY. This letter was sent to her by Berlin four years before she sold "Lands End" at Sands Point.
With two horizontal folds, and a nick at the top margin. The recipient, Mrs. Swope was also known by various names in her careers as a model, and actress on the big screen and the small screen, particularly notably in the film, "The Blackboard Jungle", where she appeared as Margaret Hayes. She also became the assistant fashion editor of Life magazine. - Shipping Info
