19th century, embellishment: japan
of flattered shield form, the metal body coated with a layer of lacquer, having inset decoration depicting a lady in a fenced garden, the reverse with stylized shou character, the underside incised in red lacquer with a Qianlong four-character mark.
Height 3 1/2 inches.
