A Pair of Chippendale Style Mahogany Armchairs
19th century
each having a shaped crest rail carved to show foliate scrolls above the openwork vasiform splat and stuffover seat within open arms having scrolled hand holds, raised on straight legs joined by stetchers.
Height 40 inches.
Estimate $ 500-700
Each in good, stable, usable condition. Frames intact with fairly even finish, having light surface wear (nicks and scratches) consistent with age and use. Some discoloration to arms typical of handling. Some tight age splits to splats. Later upholstery intact but with some scattered spotting/staining. With tags to the underside stating they are from the B.F. Edwards Collection. Additional images available upon request.
