In fair condition. Lacquer with heavy wear, mostly to edges and corners, and cracks and splits throughout. Edges and corners with slight discoloration, appearing more brown than black. Top surface with loss, chipping and cracking to the applied metallic leaf decoration in the center and lower corner. Nicks, chips, pot marks, and wear to finish throughout the black lacquer areas on top surface. One corner having a break and crack to the side and top edges. The box missing a handle and backplate to one side, handle retained. Wear to the gilt trim on top edge, split to the lacquer in center interior of the bottom surface. Break and crack to one corner along the side edge and bottom edge. All corners having wear and loss to lacquer at bottom edges, wood visible. Underside with heavy wear and scratches, some areas of lacquer loss.
