A Bronze Elephant-Form Vase
late 18th/early 19th century
cast to depict a caprisoned elephant standing on foursquare with its head slightly turned to the right, wearing elaborate trappings and harness, the back covered with a draped cloth decorated with blooming lotus flowers, surmounted by a tall vase with similar lotus decoration and flanked by a pair of beast masks suspending loose rings.
Height 11 1/2 inches.
