12 Le Chic Magazines, 1909-1910
This lot includes 12 Le Chic Magazines. Each magazine has a red paper cover that is printed and embossed. On the inside are approximately twelve pages of text (in French and some also have English translations) and black and white illustrations featuring and describing the latest fashions. In each magazine, there are additional, full-page colorized illustrations, some of which have been further embellished with gold color that is raised from the surface of the paper. Some of the magazines contain double page 'center folds' filled with colorized illustrations of the latest styles.
The cover of one magazine states the following:
Published: on the 20th of every month. Publishers: B. Finkelstein & Brother / Paris / Vienna / Berlin / London

Three are without an obvious date, but appear c.1908-10. Some of the loose pages have been placed in the wrong magazine.
Each of the twelve magazines has the same condition issues, which include frayed and 'dog-eared' corners of the paper cover and each of the interior pages. The staples used to hold the magazines together have come loose or rusted, leaving many pages 'loose' from the binding. In some of the magazine, short pieces of tape (now yellowed) were used to hold some of the pages together. With some of the pages now loose, it is possible that some magazines are missing a page or more.
